Obituary of Menoffe G. Avery

Avery, Menoffe G., 74, of St. Petersburg, died Tuesday June 5, 2001 at Vencor Hospital St. Petersburg. Born in Fort Payne, AL, he came here in 1978 from Clinton, MD. He was owner of Suncoast Catering in the Tampa Bay area from 1978 until 1992. He served in the Army during WWII and was a member of the American Legion, Gulfport Post. He loved to play pool and participated in the St. Pete Tavern Pool League for many years. At the age of 65, he attended the University of South Florida and obtained a Paralegal degree. He was Baptist. Survivors include three sons: Jeffrey and Craig, both of Clinton, MD; and James, Arcadia, FL; two daughters: Leslie Newman and Jane L. Gardiner, both of Clinton, MD; two brothers: Gleason and Quintelle, both of Chattanooga, TN; and seven grandchildren.
