Obituary of Ruth M. Westlake

Westlake, Ruth M., 78, of St. Petersburg, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2001, after a long illness. She was born in Old Forge, PA, to Harry and Mary Mackinder. She was the widow of Rev. David Westlake, who had been a United Methodist Church minister in Pennsylvania. She had been a member of St. Luke?s United Methodist Church in St. Petersburg since 1980. Ruth had worked for the Old Forge Bank for 32 years before moving to Florida. Ruth inspired many in her Sunday School and Bible Study groups that she taught all her life. Never having had children of her own, Ruth was a special Aunt to her brother?s four children and their families. The latter days of her life were spent with her many friends in Florida. Throughout her life, she touched the hearts of many people. She said, ?There are no strangers in my life?just people I haven?t met yet.? Survivors include: one nephew, Harold Mackinder of Norton, MA; three nieces, Carol Crain of Bluff Point, NY, Ruth Minert of Flushing, MI, and Joan Smith of Rochester, NY; 12 great nieces and nephews; 9 great-great nieces and nephews.
