Obituary of Richard James Dick'' Bacon

Bacon, Richard J., 87, of St. Petersburg, died Thursday July 19, 2001 at Bayfront Medical Center. A native of Redlands, California, he attended the University of Redlands, and later the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He retired from the U.S. Navy in 1957 as a Lieutenant Commander after 25 years of service. He was a Pearl Harbor survivor. He then worked on the ?DEWLINE? Project, and later as a real estate broker in New Jersey before retiring to St. Petersburg in 1971. He was a 56 year Mason, a member of the Anchor-Astoria Lodge #729 F&AM, Astoria, New York, Scottish Rite, Boston, past commander and life member of St. Petersburg York Rite Bodies, a member of Aloha Temple Shrine, Honolulu, the National Sojourners and Heroes of 76, and a past commander of the St. Petersburg Power Squadron. He was Protestant. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Dorothy, a son, Glenn of St. Petersburg, a daughter, Catherine of New York City and 2 grandchildren.
