Obituary of John S. Crosthwaite

Crosthwaite, John S., Jr, 77, of St. Petersburg, died Thursday October 11, 2001 at St. Anthony?s Hospital in St. Petersburg of cancer. Born in Yonkers, New York, he came here in 1961 from Big Stone Gap, Virginia. He retired in 1986 from Flower Power Corporation where he was an executive for 26 years. He was a veteran of the Air Force during World War II. Mr. Crosthwaite was a member, St. Petersburg Lions Club and recipient of the Melvin Jones Award for outstanding service; 50 year member of local Lion?s Clubs; Officer, Suncoast Chapter of the University of Kentucky Alumni Association; member, Sigma Nu Fraternity; member, Board of Directors, Past President and Past Coach, Azalea Little League; officiated high school, college and semi-professional football and basketball in Kentucky and Florida; member, Palm Lake Christian Church; and member, of the Committee of 100. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Thelma Crosthwaite of St. Petersburg, one daughter, Sharon L. Stark of Vienna, Virginia, one son, William N. Crosthwaite of Tierra Verde, FL, and one granddaughter, Jennifer Crosthwaite of Tierra, Verde, FL. Anderson-McQueen Funeral Homes & Cremation Tribute Center-Ninth Street Chapel, St. Petersburg.
