Obituary of Leslie R. Jack'' Robson

Robson, Leslie R. ?Jack?, 81, of St. Petersburg, died Tuesday October 2, 2001 at Palm Shores Retirement Center after a long illness. A native of Tampa, he moved to St. Petersburg in 1953. Mr. Robson grew up on and around the water, starting his love of sailing at an early age on Tampa Bay. After serving in the Navy as a navigation chief on destroyers during WWII, he began a long career with Misener Marine, rising to Vice President of Sales. He started down another career path when he began a yacht brokerage business in St. Petersburg. The business was a suncoast stalwart for 18 years. A successful ocean racing navigator and helmsman in the SORC and FORA, he was well respected in the marine industry, known as the ?Dean? of Florida yacht brokerage. Survivors include a son, Lin C. Robson of St. Pete Beach, a sister, Evelyn Stelmat of Bellaire, Florida, 2 nieces, Judith Holly and Suzanne Dahlvick, and a long-time companion, Pauline Nichols. He was preceded in death by a brother, Alfred, a sister, Aleena, wife, Frances and sons, William and Leslie.
