Obituary of John H. Clare

Clare, John H., 82, of St. Petersburg, died Saturday January 19, 2002 at Edward White Hospital. Born in Detroit, MI, he came here in 1923 from Detroit, MI. He was Presbyterian. He was in the Air Force during World War II, serving in the European Theater, and retired from the Air Force as a Lt. Colonel. He worked for the Clarke Siviter Company as head of the catalog department. He attended the Florida military academy and other local schools. He was a summer resident of North Carolina for 24 years, where he was a member of VFW Post 10685 in Glenville, N.C., he was a member of the North Carolina Dahlia Society, where he won numerous awards, he was a Board member of the Highlands Theater in North Carolina from 1982 ? 1986. He was a past President,1967 ? 1968 and life member of the Civitan Club of St. Petersburg, where he was active working with retarded children and organizing air show fund raisers at St. Petersburg/Clearwater airport, he was a member of the ?Over the Hill Gang? in St. Petersburg and belonged to the Tennessee Squire Association. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marguerite ?Suzy?, a daughter Cynthia Brickey of St. Petersburg, and a grandson, Richard ?Chipper? Brickey Jr, St. Petersburg.
