Whether watching and cheering for Stan playing drums at the Atlanta bond club outing, playing blackjack together at the outings, or memorizing the Budweiser can creed while fishing with Chris Allingham, too, God rest his soul, hanging out with Stan was always reason to laugh and enjoy life. My prayers are with his family, as well as his second family at Hough.

Stan, the big man with the even bigger heart, wore many hats in his lifetime. While wearing his ballcap as capt. of the company softball team he was a motivating leader who always made you feel like an Allstar, even when you struck out. I recall the opposing team always backing up to the fence when Stan came to bat--usually because he'd clear the bases with a homerun. I will fondly remember Stan's many homerun laps and his teammates eagerly greeting him at home plate. Stan was definitely one of the "good guys"! A fun-loving, kind and gentle soul who will be greatly missed by many. My very deepest condolences to Mary Beth and the family.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Marybeth and the Payant family in this difficult time. I will especially remember Stan's acts of courage, faith, and love in the stories Marybeth has shared with me these past seven months. He deeply loved his family to the end. Hopefully, his example will help all of us be a little more loving in our lives.

Stan was one of the most enthusiastic participants in the 1st Annual Hough Employee Flag Football Tournament in 1999. While preparing for the event, he could be seen practicing with his teammates/coworkers on weeknights after work...wearing a sleeveless tee-shirt which was guaranteed to get muddied before heading home. Stan also served as captain of the company co-ed softball team where he skillfully balanced the desire to win with the obligation to assure that everybody participated.
I'll remember Steamer as an upbeat friend, motivating leader, talented competitor, and dedicated family man. He will be sorely missed.

What great memories we have shared with Stan & his family on Florida Muni Bond Club weekends. Not only was Stan great at putting down the Captain & Coke, but he was also the worlds best human garbage disposal. It's a good thing he kept up with those afternoon workouts. I am honored to have followed in Stan's footsteps in the FMBC. Our thoughts and prayers will always be with Marybeth and those precious girls.

What a happy memory I have of Stan presenting me with a new rod and reel after I caught the biggest trout in the Bond Outing fishing tournament. He actually caught the biggest fish but made me feel so good about my catch. I think about him every time I use it. I'll always remember his happy smile and kind nature. May he find happiness in his new Home in Heaven. I miss you, Stan.

My deepest sympathies are with you and your family.
Although I never had the pleasure of meeting you personally, Marybeth, I do recall with great fondness of the way that I heard Stan speak of you. I could tell that he was so excited to become a father. His face would just light up whenever he spoke of his girls. I hope that they, along with the rest of your family, will be of great comfort to you in the coming days.

Our most sincere sympathy goes to MaryBeth, Heather, Ashley, Julia and the remainder of the Payant family.
One of the most striking memories we have of Stan was shortly after Ashley was born. We were at a bond club dinner and Stan was there with Ashley, who must have only been 2 or 3 months old. He was absolutely captivated by her. It was clear that his love for his children was abundant. We will miss you Stan.

My fondest memory of Stan was riding our motorcycles around the Tampa Bay area. Can't remember exactly what the big hurry was to get to Tampa, but I believe we became members of the 'Century Club' that day on the Gandy bridge. Stan loved life and he was an inspiration to all of us who were fortunate enough to know him as a devoted husband, father, friend and Hougher. We will miss him greatly.

Ten years ago or more, I was the coach of the Hough basketball team. Stan was not a regular member of the team. One day, however, it was apparent that we'd be short players for that upcoming night's game. I tried hard to find another player but had no success. Finally, Stan, after much begging, agreed to help us out and play so that the rest of the team could play and wouldn't have to forfeit. Well, that night, as Stan was coming down with a rebound, he landed incorrectly and did ligament damage to his knee. In fact, he came to work on crutches the next day and may have had to cancel a ski trip. I felt terrible. Stan, however, was totally a good sport about the situation and gave me no grief. I admired his graciousness in that circumstance and I'll always remember Stan for that and many other occasions.

Our involvement with the Florida Bond Club brought Stan and I togehter for many activities -- all had a common denominator -- they were fun --- and Steamer was a big part of that fun. This time last year Stan was my "date" on board a dinner boat we were checking out for the upcoming outing -- It was on this cruise that Stan announced that he wanted to introduce me to the The Captain -- Capt. Morgan that is -- The cruise, of course, was a blur. Will always remember Steamer for his friendship, easy going style and love of life.

when i moved back to florida and went to work at hough i sat next to stan for about six months. i was not a buc's fan at the time. but everyday i heard from stan how great the buc's were going to be...super bowl..and all that. so i took stan up on his offer and he took me to my first buccaneer game. you can only imagine what happened next!!! and that's all i can do as well because stan and i both didn't remember much about the game on monday morning. what i do remember is that stan took the time to invite me to the game, stan also took the time to introduce me to his friends and family. what a day!!! not only did stan turn me into a buc's fan for a day...most importantly he turned me into a stan payant fan. rest in peace steamer
