Obituary of Jeanne P. Habicht

Of Palm Beach, Fl, died peacefully on Friday, November 21, 2008, after a lengthy illness. She was 87. She is survived by her loving husband of more than 65 years, Frank H. Habicht, and by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren: daughter Pam Habicht Rudy (Frank Buchanan) of New Jersey, grandson David Rudy (Valorie) of California, great grandchildren Gabriella, Garrett and Greyden Rudy, granddaughter Katherine Rudy Ferguson (Jeremy) of New Jersey, great granddaughter Riley Ferguson, daughter Patsy Habicht (Bill Conlon) of Illinois, son Hank Habicht (Wendy) of Virginia, granddaughters Jennifer Habicht and Caroline Habicht of Texas.Jeanne was devoted to her family and passionate about her volunteer work, which included pioneering leadership positions in many educational, service and faith-based organizations. For example, before moving to Palm Beach, Jeanne was President of the Board of Education for Lyons Township High School in LaGrange, IL, and served both as Trustee and Police and Fire Commissioner for Western Springs, IL. Jeanne was Chairman of the Palm Beach Chapter of the American Red Cross and received the Clara Barton award for outstanding service. She was on a Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. advisory board, an honorary director of the Palm Beach Civic Association, and a member of the Florida Injury Control Advisory Council. Jeanne was on the Vestry and an active member of Bethesda-By-The-Sea Episcopal Church.Her friends and family will miss her sense of humor, her great story telling, and her kind, giving and thoughtful spirit.A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at Bethesda-By-The-Sea Episcopal Church, Palm Beach, with the Rev. Ralph R. Warren, Jr, D.D., Rector, officiating. The family will receive friends in fellowship immediately following the Service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Palm Beach County, 5300 East Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL, 33407; or to the charity of your choice.
