Obituary of Beatrice E. Locke

Former Petosky resident, Beatrice E. Locke, 91, of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2001 at her home of complications of Pancreatic Cancer. Beatrice Kirvan was born on November 11, 1909 in Ladysmith, Wisconsin. The daughter of Lillie & Cyril Kirvan (Hyatt). Raised by mother & stepfather, James E. Hoglen, in Petosky, Michigan. She married Joseph J. Locke on May 5, 1929. They moved to St. Petersburg, Fl. in 1944 where they were in medical practice until his death in February 1977. Beatrice was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in St. Petersburg, Fl. She was a member of Osteopathic Axillary and Eastern Star. Survivors include her three children, Richard J. Locke of Juno Isles, Fl., Dr. Margaret L. Moore of Riverview, Fl; Faye Locke of St. Petersburg, Fl; 14 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and a long time companion, James Baird of St. Petersburg, Fl. Beatrice was preceded in death by her parents and all of her brothers and sisters Friends may call from 4-7 pm on Friday March 16, 2001 at Gunter Funeral Home, 4100 16th Street North in St. Petersburg, where an Eastern Star Service will be conducted. Mass at St. Mary's Catholic Church will take place Saturday, March 17, 2001 at 1:30 p.m The Rev. Patrick George, T.O.R. will officiate. Interment will follow in Michigan during the summer.
