Obituary of William H. Powell

Powell, William H. "Bill," Jr., 67, of St. Petersburg, FL, died Monday, April 16, 2001 at Bayfront Medical Center. He moved to St. Petersburg in 1935 from his native Williston, FL and was a 1952 graduate of St. Petersburg High School. He was a Marine Corp. veteran of the Viet Nam War retiring as Major after 23 years service. After his retirement from the Marine Corp, he was Director of Emergency Road Service Administration at AAA Auto Club South in St. Petersburg for 20 years. He was a member of COPD-Support, Inc. of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Second Wind of Tampa, FL, and the Fifth Avenue Baptist Church in St. Petersburg. He is survived by his wife, Barbara J. Powell, two sons, Robert William Powell of St. Petersburg, James L. Phibbs of Seminole, FL, two daughters, Kimberly A. Stratton of Brooksville, FL, Amy L. Phibbs of St. Petersburg, one sister, Christine P. Horne of St. Petersburg, and five grandchildren. The family request memorials to COPD-Support, Inc. P.O.
