Obituary of Winifred E. Ricahards

Winifred E. "Winnie" Richards, 81, of St. Petersburg, Florida, died Thursday, September 20, 2001 at her residence under the care of The Hospice Of The Florida Suncoast. She was born in London, England and moved to St. Petersburg in 1957 from Springfield, Pennsylvania. She was a homemaker and was a member of St. Vincent's Episcopal Church where she was a Lay Eucharistic Minister, served on the Altar Guild, and was a member of Episcopal Church Women. She was the flower chairman and wedding coordinator at church and secretary of the Sunday School. During WW II, she worked with the U.S. Forces in the European Theater as a civilian doing statistical analysis and helping plan the D-Day invasion and was awarded the Medal Of Freedom Without Palm. She is survived by one son, Dr. John D. Richards of San Antonio, Texas, one daughter, Barbara A. Richards of Cary, North Carolina, three sisters, Barbara Chambers, Lillian Glenn, and Kathleen Hyde all in England, and four grandchildren, Christopher G. Richards of San Antonio, Texas, and Carley, Melissa, and Kerri Richards all of St. Petersburg, Florida. She was pre-deceased by her husband, George Richards and a son, David W. Richards.
