Obituary of John David Rodda

Rodda (USN ret), CDR John D. "Jack" 89, of St. Petersburg, died Feb. 15, 2018. He was born in Rochester, IN and came here in 1976 from Culver, IN. He was a 1952 graduate of UCLA with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Economics and a 1979 Graduate of USF with a Master's Degree in Education Administration with further studies at USF. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean and Viet Nam Wars retiring as Commander after 21 years of service. He was the Director of Naval Science at Admiral Farragut academy for 22 yrs. retiring in 1998. He was a Life member of the Disabled American Veterans, was an avid Bridge player and enjoyed walking and working out at Gold's Gym. Jack also enjoyed traveling around the USA. He was a member of the Allendale United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Nancy S.; 2 sons, John of Valrico, David of St. Petersburg; 1 daughter and son-in-law, Nancy B. Rodda and David Johnson of Tampa; 2 grandchildren Ella and Lena; 2 stepdaughters, Cathy (Idalio Mamede) Rakers of Portland, OR, Kim ( Bill) Taylor of Port Orange, FL; and 2 step grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, John Leslie and Thelma O. Rodda and one son, James W. Rodda. A Private graveside service will be held at Bay Pines National Cemetery.
