Obituary of Mary B. Garrett

Garrett, Mary Bowyer "Mary Pat" 83, of St. Petersburg, FL, and Greenville, SC, passed away on April 10, 2018. Mary was born on March 17, 1935, to the late Kenneth McLean and Frances (Oxley) Bowyer in Riverside, CA. She attended Fassifern School for Girls in Hendersonville, NC, and graduated from St. Petersburg High school in 1953. Mary attended Judson College in Marion, AL, Stetson University in Deland, FL, and the University of Tampa, FL. Mary was a homemaker and a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. In Greenville she was a member of the Greenville Women's Club, Nathanael Greene Chapter DAR, UDC, Greenville Chapter 51, First Presbyterian Church (Circle 4), and Poinsett Club. In St. Petersburg she was a member of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club, St. Anthony's Hospital Auxiliary, Stuart Society MFA, Zeta Tau Alpha Alumnae Sorority and attended First Presbyterian Church. She also enjoyed a home in Tryon, NC, and was fond of her horses and dogs. Mary is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, Bruce A. Garrett; her loving children, Kathryn G. (Michael) Mader, Laura G. (David) Taylor; grandchildren, Carese (George) Hernando, Claire (Nicholas) DeLorie, Calvin Moody, step grandson Nick (Lauren) Mader; great granddaughter, Bailey Grace Hernando; niece Cynthia (Wayne) Kaloust, nephews Bruce (Diane) Bowyer and Ken Bowyer and extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Bowyer, and son, Michael L. Garrett.
