To Charisse and to the the Pape family,
Nick and I started as colleagues at Gartner and I am proud that we ended up as friends. Nick was such a good man. Always quick with a smile and a laugh. He was as genuine as they come and I will miss him. I am so sorry for your loss and I hope that the wonderful memories that you have of him have brought you some comfort.
Sincerely, Matt Southmayd

I recently learned of Nick's passing and I'm devastated. We were classmates in Aberdeen MD. We had many classes together in high school. All of the honor students hung out together. We were all very positive and full of dreams and aspirations. When I think of Nick, I think of his magnetic smile. He was always a gentleman. I'll never forget you, Nick. With Love, Your class mate, '85 Rockers. Franchette

Pape family: I was an undergrad at UConn in the mid 90's and in Sig Ep. I remember Nick being very involved in the fraternity alumni board and coming around to facilitate different fraternity endeavors and future planning. At the time he was probably out of college for several years but still able to really connect with us undergrads. Always friendly and professional for sure. So sorry for your loss.

Charisse told me today of Nick's passing and we are in total disbelief! Nick and Charisse commissioned me to build some custom furniture for their new home and at out first meeting, Nick's smile and joyful personality made you feel like we've been friends forever! We've only spoke a handful of times, but I remember each one with a smile! He will be missed! We are very sorry for your loss.

I immediately liked Nick when Charisse introduced him to our family. He then became my brother n law.
Nick was always happy and smiling. He was kind, funny, and loved to play jokes. For instance, hiding my car on me as I left their house one time, or jumping out from my backseat of my car as I was was getting ready to leave, scaring the wits out of me.
Full of laughter. Full of Fun. That was Nick.
I can't even imagine a world without Nick.
Charisse my heart goes out to you, and everyone who was fortunate to know this wonderful man.
Rest in peace Nick.

Nick is a soul that will always be with so many in their recollections and fondest memories. He was fun to associate with, yet intense about what matters in life. Honesty, truthfulness, doing what is right and helping others, in good times and tough times. He believed in giving back and making a difference. These things are the measure of the man he was and the strength of the lives he touched.
I was lucky enough to get to be a small part of Nick’s life back at UConn when volunteering for the Fraternity. I saw Nick move from undergraduate to alumni member and I will always benefit from having had him touch my life and so many others. Now 30+ years have flown by and time and distance causes us to lose contact, but the lessons we learned are never lost.
My sincere condolences to his entire family. God Bless

I'm having trouble putting my thoughts into words as nothing I write will adequately capture how devastated I am to hear of Nick's passing. I worked with Nick the last nine months and in addition to being extremely smart and a very hard worker, Nick always had a kind word to share and he was always interested in learning about the people he worked with. I'm proud to consider Nick my friend and only wish I could have known him longer. My deepest sympathies to his family and loved ones.

Dear Charisse: I am so sorry to hear of Nick's passing. Nick and I were colleagues at GE Healthcare where I worked for him in Healthcare Solutions. We had some good times in, at that time, a tough business traveling through GA, AL and SC visiting so many smaller hospitals that had no desire to purchase what we were selling and a few big ones that became great customers. This must be a very sorrowful time to lose your loved one at such a young age and please know that my family's prayers will include you and your family as well as Nick's family.

Nick was my Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity Brother at UConn - 90 to 92 (ish) for 'my' years --- and I only have very fond memories. Always upbeat, always lending good-positive suggestions for.... just about everything! A natural leader and a great bartender as well- who almost single-handed, got "Woody's" ( a bar VERY off the beaten path of your average UConn student) on the map through his great personality / promotions and just.... everyone wanting to be around Nick! Place became a hit because of him. Great memories................. Very sad to hear this news and sincere condolences.

I can’t say enough about Nick. He was my neighbor when he moved to Florida with his wonderful wife Charisse. He loved her and always did his best to make sure she knew it. He would put up signs in the yard and “try” and surprise her on birthdays. I admired Nick for so many reasons. He always asked about both of my kids and always made you feel like you were the most important person in the room. He would even play hide and seek with my daughter when she was little. He never asked for anything but friendship. He didn’t care if you were a garbage man or a Doctor. He was sincere and true to what he was. To say I’m sad is an understatement. The world lost a great person/husband/friend/Saint. I miss you buddy and all of my love for Charisse and family.

I met Nick when he was visiting his family in Maryland. The night we met my father went to the hospital with severe injuries. I remember running to my car and when I turned around he was running up behind me asking if I need money for tolls or needed anything at all. The following night he took time out of his evening to come to the hospital and give his condolences. Later that night he paid for a hotel room for my family since we lived a good bit away from the hospital.
