My deepest condolences to Dr. Knapp's family. I just learned of his passing yesterday by happenstance.
I was a patient of his from 1983 until his retirement in 2018, and my Mother was as well, longer than that. He was an excellent Doctor and a good man. He had been treating me for glaucoma since 2005, to this day I still have full visual field in both eyes. I attribute that to his care and expertise.
He diagnosed a retinal vein occlusion in my Mother's eye, and promptly got her to a vitro retinal specialist within the hour, saving her sight. He was one of the most diligent and caring doctor's I've ever known. I took my 88 year old Mother for one last eye exam in Dr. Knapp's office, on his last day, mostly because she wanted to thank him and to say goodbye. She ended up being his very last patient, I believe. As we were in the waiting room on our way out she got emotional, and Dr. Knapp was humbled by that. That's the kind of man he was.
Again, my deepest sympathies.
