I just today learned of Jim’s passing and want to share my heartfelt sympathy to his family. I lived across the street from Jim from 1954 to 1970. We shared kindergarten through high school along with many mutual friends and I have many many fond memories of those days. It was lovely to read how much he was loved by all that knew him. Prayers for all. Marsha Barth Johnson

Our hearts go out to you, Pat and all of Jimmy’s family. A big loss to all of us. Jimmy always had a broad smile on his face and a caring heart to welcome you. He had an unbeatable outlook on life & friendship. We will miss him dearly. We’re thankful for him in our lives. He was sunshine.

The picture taken was special to me as uncle Jim left his job cutting hair that day to come see me graduate high school. Some of my most fond memories of uncle Jim was him moving the pieces of back gammon and winning lol... I'll forever cherish the many years growing up in the jones' house hold. Even if I was fed dog treats and loved them! I love you uncle Jim and will never forget your cheerful personality. You are so missed already. Love you and aunt pat so much.

I met Jim back in the 70's when i worked for the V.A. Admin on downtown on 1st Ave S. He had a barber shop across the street in the old Trailways bus station. He's been my barber since then.
I really liked Jim with his settled & easy way to be around. We did a few things together such as Concerts & a few Beers.
I'm truly going to miss him greatly ! Billy Schultz

Jim Jones - a friend and reliable cohort in shenanigans since the mid-1970s. We lived across the street from one another on the south side. We cruised the neighborhood together looking for fun. Family night taco parties with Pat at their house were controlled raucous events that would make Cheech and Chong feel at home. He would cut my hair at my house, often when we were both in a very “mellow” state. Visits to his various shop locations downtown usually resulted in interesting or unexpected encounters. You might meet a St. Pete mayor, a renowned investment banker, a well-known real estate investor, lawyers, judges, postal workers, airline captains, or a world class competitive sailor. The shop he had on 9th Street across the street from the old Greyhound bus station was always a source of curiosity. I would often visit his shop as a safe place to whine with abandon and impunity. My last visit with him was at Cut Ups on a Friday just two weeks before he left us. He spoke of lining up an appointment with a specialist to assess his persistent respiratory discomfort. Who could know that it would be the last time I would see this cherished friend? Yes Jim, you are missed by all who were lucky enough to know you. And Pat, I can't possibly imagine your and your family's personal grief, but my hopeful and sympathetic thoughts are with you all.

Jim and Pat were my first close friends in St. Petersburg when I moved here in 2019 and we became neighbors. We shared so much laughter over silly and audacious stories, watched NFL, Jeopardy and the Wheel together at Jim and Pat’s house. I will miss our fun and the curious and compassionate person that Jim was. My parents and I will always hold him in loving memory.

Jim was a long time friend and neighbor. We graduated from N.E.H.I in 1969. It was always a joy to run into him and Pat at our local stores and hangouts. I’m so sad for his family his passing is too soon.
