Your mother/grandmother was a kind & able teacher! I was in her 5/6th gr.class @ Lealman many years ago when my family moved to St. Pete from Tampa. It was quite a transition for me...from a "city" school to more a of "country" one where everyone wore jeans I had none& had grown up together. Nonetheless, Leila Black established I believe it was her lst yr @ Lealmanan appropriate atmosphere for learning & we all had a good year together. I went on to graduate from St. Pete High, FSU &,later USF. I became a teacher myself, and later, a reading specialist, an assistant principal, and a principal...all in Pinellas County Public Schools. I retired 2 yrs ago and now devote a lot of time to activities in my church, Allendale Methodist, traveling with my husband, being with 4 grandchildren, and to sewing projects for others. I wish I had known that Leila Black was still alive & in the area during her lifetime, for I would have been happy to share memories with her. Do know that Leila Black was a special person who brought much good into her part of the world!
