Hello Dana,
I have been in Tampa all these years. My husband thought we should move to Ohio 7 almost 8 years ago and I didn't want to go. My parents were one good reason. I have really enjoyed being in the middle between the grandparents and the grandkids. When I home-schooled my oldest Dad helped with assignments. We have eaten together, gone to old car shows and music festivals and called back and forth across the bay. It has just been a simple, complete time with them and I never regretted not going north.
My dad died 4 days before yours. Drs. said about 4 years ago he had asthma but 17 months back during a frightning race to the hospital he was told the shortness of breath were silent heart attacks and he only had 30% of his heart left. Still, he did pretty well, walking the block alot, continuing in his usual patterns but my mom took over the driving. He went to church his last Sunday, watched the Super Bowl and had a normal Monday with much coughing after supper. He got up in the night and moved into the recliner and his coloring and breathing changed and he told my mom 'no hospital' and was gone.
In the following days my mom handed me the TIMES and that's how I say about your dad. How strange life is! I mentioned his name to my mom when we were deciding who to call. They were even buried in the same cemetery. I went to St. Pete on the 13th and moved one flower from each of Dad's arrangements to your father's grave and put a yellow one on your mom's. I hope that was o.k.
I plan to see you Saturday but we have an old dog scheduled for surgery tomorrow and if it goes wrong I wanted you to know that I honored your father. I still remember staying at the beach with your family and having my 1st diet soda-- a Tab, remember those? and eating at your house. Your mom gave us TV dinners and I went home and begged mine for some! I liked them. I hope you and Dwayne and family are as well as they can be. Ruth Lee
