Dr. Cole was such a special and gentle man. He was the very first doctor to take care of me as a child, and I adored him!!! I cried when he told me he could no longer see me as a patient because I turned 18... Rest in Eternal Peace Dr. Cole...

I wish to extend my deepest sympathy to the family. I know Dr. Cole will be missed by all who knew him. He was my peditrician in the late 60's and early 70's. I have fond memories of him and my mother always spoke very highly of the care he gave to my brother and I. You will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Our sympathies are with Martha and the family. Ed will be remembered not only as the mayor and councilman of our wonderful city, but as a very astute duplicate bridge opponent for many years. He is missed.

Dr. Cole not only was my pediatrician growing up, he also worked closely with my late father in saving "blue babies" in the St. Petersburg area in the early 60's. My father, Russ Barnes, was a St. Pete police officer and when he got a call to a baby that wasn't breathing, he would take the baby to Mound Park Hospital where Dr. Cole was waiting at the emergency room entrance. Sometimes in his pajamas! Dr. Cole was a wonderful doctor who always made me feel comfortable and safe. When my brother and I were very small, he would come to our house when we were ill. He was always gentle and kind. When I saw Dr. Cole come in the front door, I knew I would feel better soon. He was my doctor until I turned 18 years old. Years later, I was visiting St. Petersburg with my oldest daughter who was 2 years old at the time. She became ill with an ear infection. I called Dr. Cole's office and he answered. He told me to bring Sarah down to the office. I did. It turns out that Sarah was to be his last patient. He had retired. The office was already closed and he was set to go home. But he stayed there to see Sarah and take care of her. It was an honor to be his last patient. We talked about our families and that was the last time I talked to him. My prayers are with his family at their time of great loss.
Cindy
