Upon hearing the news of his illness and passing, memories came flooding back. Everything about our time from 1973 to 1981; memories both pent up and repressed, with the vivid and constant have washed away leaving chapters of lessons learned. I'm thankful for the drive and motivation he instilled in me and proud that I became the man he never thought I'd be.

Bill was a wonerful, caring man. I worked with him at the Public Defenders Office and always enjoyed his smile, jokes and good nature. We often wanted to surprise him in Maryville one day but we never had the chance. We had plans to move to Lenoir City but it just didnt work out. I We spent hours talking about his family, his beautiful wife, children and his mother. I had a small baby at home and my husband was Mr. MOM. Bill would give advice and he was so kind that I would take his advise. I will always cherish and love the time we had together. I will keep all of you in my prayers. Heaven as another Angel in its midst.

I will always remember Bill as a kind, caring, generous man. I will miss our political discussions and his humor. Janet and Bill were my first friends when I started at the Public Defender's Office and I'm proud to say they allowed me to become part of their wonderful family. Bill will be greatly missed.

Bill was a great friend for many years on the Police Department and also after retirement. We have stayed in touch and shared his treatment all through the time he was fighting cancer. He was a blessing to me after my cancer diagnosis and helped me cope with the early days. One of the things I remember about him was his tenacity when he wanted answers. If he wasn't satisfied with what someone told him, he would not stop until he got to the person at the very top. He also was a great president of the retired officers association, and got a lot of benefits for us that others might have not have thought about. He will be truly missed!!
